Snip20150202_24I just updated the Venganza Media blog with the official announcement that Now Playing Podcast will open its super-secret vault of previously released donation shows during the live Feb. 17 review of Kingsman: The Secret Service.

That vault contains some of the most wanted reviews in NPP history, including Aliens, Child’s Play, Jaws, Psycho, and Poltergeist. Fans who have just caught on to NPP in the last couple of years have been clamoring for those reviews, but read the piece to hear what host Arnie Carvalho has to say about this one-time event.

One day after teasing Robocop listeners with a preview of its upcoming schedule, Now Playing Podcast released its 2014 spring calendar, revealing two more groundbreaking sci-fi series’ on tap for its upcoming donation drive.

Spoilers below if you haven’t finished this week’s episode of Now Playing!

This year, spring donors will join Arnie, Stuart and Jakob on their journey through the worlds of The Matrix and Planet of the Apes.

The former – a five film bonus retrospective that includes the Wachowskis upcoming Jupiter Ascending – will be released to Silver Level donors, those who donate $10 or more.

Gold Level donors ($25 dollars or more) will receive the five original Planet of the Apes films, Tim Burton’s poorly-received 2001 reboot, 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes and this summer’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

The bi-annual bonus series’ are among the most popular for Now Playing fans, as the show rarely re-releases its donation podcasts, breaking protocol only twice in its seven year history — for its 5th Anniversary DVD, and recently for the release of the sixth Child’s Play film, Curse of Chucky.

Previous donation series’ have also included the Jaws, Alien, Evil Dead, Exorcist and Poltergeist films.

When the hosts aren’t recording The Matrix and POTA this spring, they’ll continue the current Stephen King retrospective, which features some of King’s less popular film adaptations taken from the Night Shift collection.

That’s right listeners… The Mangler is coming. And so are the sequels.
